Therapist

Alyssa Smith, LPC-IT, is dedicated to helping adolescents and adults navigate life’s challenges with compassion, understanding, and evidence-based care. She believes that every person has the capacity for growth and healing when provided with a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic environment. Alyssa works alongside her clients to help them build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and achieve meaningful, lasting change.

During her clinical internship at Balance of Mind Counseling & Behavioral Services, Alyssa has provided individual counseling to children, adolescents, and adults in an outpatient setting. She has experience conducting biopsychosocial assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, collaborating with caregivers, and maintaining ongoing therapeutic relationships with a diverse caseload. She also previously worked as a Registered Behavior Technician, providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services while partnering with families and interdisciplinary treatment teams to support client success.

Alyssa utilizes an integrative, client-centered approach to therapy that draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and person-centered therapy. She believes treatment should be tailored to each individual’s unique strengths, goals, and experiences, creating a collaborative path toward improved emotional health and overall well-being.

She works with adolescents (ages 15 and older) and adults experiencing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), PTSD and trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, social anxiety, stress-related disorders, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Alyssa has a particular interest in supporting adolescents and adults, as well as veterans and first responders. She is also committed to expanding her expertise in trauma-informed care, couples counseling, and evidence-based treatment for OCD.

Alyssa is passionate about helping clients gain greater self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, and build confidence as they work toward living healthier, more fulfilling lives. She strives to foster a trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel respected, supported, and empowered throughout their journey.
