How TMS Works
TMS is a noninvasive treatment provided while the patient is fully awake and comfortably seated in a specialized TMS chair. A magnetic coil, similar to those used in MRI machines, is positioned on the front left side of the patient’s head. Most patients experience this as a gentle tapping sensation on the head.

TMS FAQ’s
TMS, or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, is a non-invasive therapy using magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in the brain, aimed at improving mood disorders like depression.
Most insurance providers, including Medicare, cover TMS, though prior authorization may be required. Treatment history, including medication trials, may be necessary for approval.
Our Team can assess if TMS is suitable for you based on your medical and mental health history.
Patients often feel a tapping sensation on the scalp during TMS sessions, but many can read or relax comfortably during the process.
Some patients experience mild scalp discomfort or headaches, but these typically resolve quickly, allowing a return to normal activities right after treatment.
A typical TMS course consists of five sessions per week for about six weeks, with each session lasting from 3 to 40 minutes.
Follow-up needs vary. Some patients may need periodic maintenance treatments, which can be discussed with a doctor.
Results vary, but many patients notice improvements after several weeks, with around 30 sessions being common.
